The First Chapter House — Eastgate
Overview
A first home, and a young couple ready to make it their own. We planned the work in two phases so they could keep living in the house throughout: Phase 1, an extensive renovation of two bathrooms and the living room, ran concurrently with design and permitting for Phase 2 — so no time was lost between them. Phase 1 is complete, and Phase 2, a remodel and small addition, is now under construction.
The challenge
An older house with plenty of character and plenty of unknowns. The homeowners needed to live on-site through the work, had clear ideas of how they wanted the space to look and function, and wanted a builder who would talk openly about pricing, progress, and the surprises that come with opening up old walls.
Our solution
We sequenced the project so the most-used spaces came first — two bathrooms and the living room finished in two months — making it far easier to live through the rest. We worked through options and pricing together, handled surprises openly, and submitted the Phase 2 design and permit application on time.

One of the things we’ve appreciated most is the clear communication and transparency. Remodeling involves a lot of decisions, and being able to talk openly about pricing, progress, and unexpected issues makes a big difference.
